The Best Breweries in Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie, Alberta has been growing at a rapid pace over the course of the past 5 years and up until a few years ago seen a lot of the same traditional restaurants and nite clubs. Now as the micro brewery world becomes a big part of a cities core the city of GP has had the privilege of launching two very successful breweries from right within Grande Prairie.

If you like beer and especially like tasting local flavours there really is only two choices to choose from when it comes to finding a brewery in the city.

Promoted and pushed from the massive success of Maddhatters liquid lounge came the birth of the GP Brewing Company. The wonderful marketing team behind Maddhatter put a lot of effort into building this microbrewery into Grande Prairie's first recognized and noticeable craft beer company even though they may not have been. Extremely popular, GP Brewing Co. soon purchased, renovated and opened up it's own tasting room situated right next door to Maddhatters and still continues to operate there today.

The company produces such beers as the ever popular Mercury, Harvest Hefeweizen, Blow Out Stout, TK IPA and Downtown Honey Brown. You can find yourself enjoying a cold brew throughout the day or even swing by their retail store and pick some up or some other merchandise you may be interested in.

What started out as a simple tasting experiment has blossomed into a top flight selection of some of the cities best beers. The Grain Bin Brewing company has become one of the most popular breweries and local craft beer providers Grande Prairie has to offer.  While GP Brewing Co. provides a more commercial feel the good people at Grainbin provide a true unique local brewing experience.

Every month the company sets out and holds a poll to determine what the people of Grande Prairie, Alberta want to see next as a flavour of beer.  One of our favourite things about the company is they're not afraid to reach out to local farmers to find their next ingredients, case in point they are potentially working with the awesome Hasketberry farms in Beaverlodge as one of their next offerings.

As of now Grain Bin is in the process of relocating their operation which should open up a new adventure for their business as they get set to build bigger and newer equipment but also an opportunity for a new tasting room for local Grande Prairie residents to swing by and taste their latest brews.

Moving in Grande Prairie (Alberta Strong Movers we recommend) is never easy but the company hopes to have their new brewing head quarters open by October of 2018 on the west end.

Be sure to check back on our blog for the latest news on companies like Grain Bin and GP Brewing Co.
